Product Information Antistax extra Vein Tablets are natural products and are used for pain and a feeling of heaviness in the legs. How should this medicine be taken or used? Take this medicine with liquid (e.g., 1 glass of water). How long should this medicine be used? The duration of use depends on the type of symptoms and/or the course of the condition. Do not use this medicine for longer than 6 weeks without medical advice if there has been no improvement during this time. Maximum duration of treatment: 3 months. Overdose? No symptoms of overdose are known. If in doubt, contact your doctor. Missed a dose? Continue taking your usual dose at the next scheduled time (do not take a double dose). As a general rule, take particular care to ensure correct dosing in infants, young children, and older adults. If in doubt, ask your doctor or pharmacist about any possible effects or precautions. Dosage Adults 1-2 tablets 1 time daily in the morning, before the first meal Indications See your doctor immediately if you develop new or suddenly worsening pain, rapidly increasing swelling, bluish discoloration, or a feeling of tightness or heat in your legs. - Venous insufficiency, for supportive treatment, e.g., for: - Pain and a feeling of heaviness in the legs - Calf cramps, especially at night - Itching of the legs - Fluid retention (edema) in the legs How It Works How does the active ingredient in this medicine work? The ingredients come from the grapevine and act as a natural mixture. About the plant itself: - Appearance: a woody climbing shrub with large, lobed leaves and small, inconspicuous flowers that ripen into juicy green or red grapes - Distribution: Europe, western Asia; cultivated in all warm temperate regions - Main constituents: condensed tannins (proanthocyanidins), flavonoids, fruit acids - Plant parts and preparations used: mainly leaf extracts Because of their structure, proanthocyanidins can scavenge harmful free radicals and have an antioxidant effect. They inhibit enzymes that make capillaries fragile, thereby maintaining the elasticity of the veins. The flavonoids also present provide additional anti-inflammatory effects. What about pregnancy and breastfeeding? - Pregnancy: based on current knowledge, this medicine should not be used. - Breastfeeding: based on current knowledge, use is not recommended. Discontinuing breastfeeding may need to be considered. If this medicine has been prescribed to you despite a contraindication, speak with your doctor or pharmacist. The therapeutic benefit may outweigh the risk associated with use in the presence of a contraindication. Side Effects What side effects may occur? - Gastrointestinal symptoms, such as: - Nausea - Skin hypersensitivity reactions, such as: - Itching - Skin rash If you notice any discomfort or changes in how you feel during treatment, contact your doctor or pharmacist. Precautions What should you be aware of? - Use caution if you are allergic to ascorbic acid (vitamin C)! - Use caution if you are allergic to cinnamon and its constituents! - Use caution if you are allergic to binders (e.g., carboxymethylcellulose with the E number E 466)! - Use caution if you are allergic to propylene glycol and similar substances!
