How should this medicine be taken or used? Take this medicine with liquid (e.g., 1 glass of water). How long should this medicine be used? The duration of use depends on the type of symptoms and/or the course of the condition. Without medical advice, use this medicine for only a few days if symptoms have not improved during this time. Overdose? An overdose may cause drowsiness, an increased heart rate, and headache, among other symptoms. Contact a doctor immediately if you suspect an overdose. Missed a dose? Continue taking your usual dose at the next scheduled time (do not take a double dose). As a general rule, take particular care to ensure correct dosing in infants, young children, and older adults. If in doubt, ask your doctor or pharmacist about any possible effects or precautions. The dose prescribed by your doctor may differ from the information in the package leaflet. Because your doctor adjusts the dose to your individual needs, use this medicine according to your doctor's instructions. Dosage Children 2-12 years of age weighing less than 30 kg 1/2 tablet 1 time daily with or without food Children 2-12 years of age weighing more than 30 kg 1 tablet 1 time daily with or without food Adolescents 12 years of age and older and adults 1 tablet 1 time daily with or without food Patients with impaired liver function: in consultation with your doctor, you may need to reduce the single dose or total dose, or increase the interval between doses. Indications - Allergic rhinitis, e.g., hay fever - Hives, with itching, redness, and raised welts on the skin, especially when symptoms are chronic How It Works How does the active ingredient in this medicine work? The active ingredient helps with allergies and relieves itching. It suppresses the effects of histamine, a substance produced by the body, in two ways: first, it inhibits the release of histamine from mast cells (specialized immune cells) in the blood and tissues; second, it displaces histamine from its binding sites. As a tissue hormone and a type of chemical messenger, histamine plays an important role in the development of inflammation and allergic reactions. Composition per 1 tablet 10 mg loratadine + Lactose 1-hydrate 75 mg lactose + Microcrystalline cellulose + Corn starch + Magnesium stearate Contraindications When must this medicine not be used? - Hypersensitivity to the ingredients Which age groups require special consideration? - Infants and young children under 2 years of age: this medicine must not be used. What about pregnancy and breastfeeding? - Pregnancy: based on current knowledge, this medicine should not be used. - Breastfeeding: based on current knowledge, use is not recommended. Precautions What should you be aware of? - Use caution if you are allergic to corn starch! - Use caution if you have an intolerance to lactose. This also applies to medicines you buy yourself, use only occasionally, or used some time ago.
